17 Effects That Seem Like CGI (But Aren't)
In this day and age, basically every movie is plastered with CGI. We're all pretty much numb to it. Like in Mad Mad: Fury Road, when the Doof Warrior shot flames out of his guitar? We figured there's no way both aspects of that piece of equipment were functioning. Boy, were we we idiots. Movie-blind idiots.
Whenever we see a cool stunt or a fantastical creature, we just automatically assume most of it isn't real. And it's become distinctly harder to spot what is and isn't computer-generated. We're not complaining, either—a well-placed CGI is great. Better than throwing a watermelon on the floor and pretending it's someone's cracked head. BUT! We loooooove a good practical effect. We love the art of creating something out of nothing and making magic.
