Good news for Michael Che, Lorne Michaels’ checkbook and pretty much no one else: If the internet rumors are true, this season of Saturday Night Live may be Colin Jost’s last.
The long-running sketch show recently announced which hosts and musical guests would close out its 50th anniversary season, a star-studded slate that includes Bad Bunny, Quinta Brunson, and the internet’s new baby girl, Walton Goggins. Several fans, however, had some questions about why Scarlett Johansson was tapped to host the last episode of the season on May 17th, speculating that this episode would double as her husband’s SNL finale, too. “Oh it’s jover (Jost over),” wrote @suckit_nerds while @wxpdnews suggested that we all “kiss Colin Jost goodbye.”
This isn’t the only bad news comedy fans had to grapple with this week. In a move approximately nobody asked for, Redditor Eoinharrington25 decided to crunch the numbers surrounding the ages of The Simpsons’ eponymous family, finding that if the show were set in modern day — and not on a floating timeline — Homer and Marge would be millennials, born in 1987 and 1991, respectively. To make matters worse, the Redditor discovered that Bart, Lisa and Maggie could all claim Gen Alpha as their own, boasting the years 2015, 2017 and 2024 on their individual birth certificates.
“I hit the report button, but I can’t find the option that says ‘OP caused me pain,’” Blythyvxr lamented of the now-viral post on r/TheSimpsons.
Unlike learning the Simpson family’s birth years, we think these hilarious tweets will bring you a lot of joy. The funniest include those about off-putting Davids, whether You has actually ended and everyone’s favorite Cardinal: “Cardi T.”
