50 of the Funniest Tweets from the Week of April 7, 2025

Have you ever watched Saturday Night Live and felt like there was something missing? References to things like beans on toast, chippys or the use of the word “innit”? Amiee Lou Wood-style teeth on every cast member? The type of scathing absurdist cynicism that can only fester under the oppressive centuries-long rule of a deadly colonialist monarchy?
If so, not only should you stay far, far away from 30 Rock’s costuming department — and very, very close to a trusted mental health provider — you’re also in luck: SNL is getting its own U.K. spin-off.
Earlier this week, British broadcaster Sky announced that it’s bringing a version of the sketch series to London next year, complete with a “star-studded lineup of hosts” and Lorne Michaels as an executive producer.
As Londoners prepare to get a little goofy, Steve Martin most certainly is not. In the new documentary Not Just a Goof, A Goofy Movie director Kevin Lima explained how his team selected Bill Farmer to voice everyone’s (second) favorite anthropomorphic dog (in this house, we stan Pluto), and the casting process involved some truly terrible ideas from then-Disney chairman Jeffrey Katzenberg. “What if Steve Martin were Goofy? Wouldn’t that be fabulous?” Katzenberg purportedly suggested, before insisting that Martin forgo the character’s signature gorsh-ing, hyuck-ing drawl to sound like a middle-aged white man.
“‘He’s going to use his own voice so that we know who he is,’” the director recalled of his boss’ deranged pitch.
A world without a “King Tut” singing-Goofy isn't all we have to be thankful for this week. These hilarious tweets got us all the way to Friday, with the funniest featuring the Biblical Wise Men as pop girlies, “Wikipedia for normal people” and the only time people can merge.
