21 Trios of Movies That Would Make for Terrible Trilogies

Every movie has to be part of a series these days, so it’s only natural that some filmmakers might start getting desperate. It’s not unheard of for original scripts to end up adapted as sequels of existing properties, so why couldn’t it happen in retrospect? Just group together some movies that have similar titles and call it a day. The name of the game is to get that franchise by any means necessary.
Okay, there’s a lot of reasons why that wouldn’t work, not the least of which being that it would confuse the hell out of audiences expecting a similar movie from a similar title. To illustrate just how horribly it could go wrong, Redditor Navae26 suggested a trilogy of “The Aristocrats, The Aristocats and Catz.” (Did they mean Cats? Because that was confusing even as a solo title.)
They then asked r/AskReddit, “What 3 movies with similar titles make the most confusing trilogy?” and their fellow Redditors quickly proved that not every threesome is so great after all.
