20 Modern Artifacts Kids Won’t Recognize Soon

Imagine traveling back in time to 2010, the year of the BP oil spill, the Copiapó mining accident and Lady Gaga’s meat dress. It doesn’t seem like that long ago, but would you even know how to function? Could you figure out how to pay for stuff? Get in touch with your alarmed loved ones? Call an Uber? Was Uber a thing?
Well, in 2040, 2025 is going to seem exactly as foreign, if not more so. For example, what with the popularity of direct-to-streaming movie releases, Redditor blud_13 believes “going to a movie theater” will be a thing of the past. Today, “kids will ask, ‘What was a payphone?’ or ‘What was (a) cassette?’” they told r/AskReddit. “What will someone, 15 years in the future, ask, ‘What was (blank)?’”
Their fellow Redditors, of course, were more than willing to fill in the blanks for them.
