23 Pieces of Slang From Your Youth That Apparently Stayed There

“Is Baby Gronk the new Drip King after getting rizzed up by Livvy?”

This question set the internet ablaze in summer 2023, sparking a slew of confused tweets, explainer articles and countless Google searches for “Am I having a stroke?”

BoomersGen XersMillennials and even Zoomers let out a collective “huh?” at the mind-boggling sentence, but Gen Alpha — even with their “gyatt-s,” “rizzler-s” and “skibidis” — is far from the first generation to raise eyebrows with their slang. Just ask the fine folks of yore who coined terms like “da bomb,” “epic fail” and “crack-a-lackin’” throughout their younger years.

From “gotta jet” to the “struggle bus,” these are the pieces of slang from your youth that apparently stayed there. And in some cases, that’s a good thing.
