31 Wild Times People Are Sure They Encountered a Serial Killer

Whether it’s a sinister look in the eyes or an unmistakably dark aura, there’s no denying when someone has murdery vibes.

Occasionally, someone’s coffee order is even a clue that there’s evil inside of their heart. One Redditor used to work the Starbucks drive-thru and had a customer who was “nice, but off,” and regularly ordered a venti black coffee with 18 Splendas. One day, the crew realized they hadn’t seen their Splenda regular in a while, only to find out that he’d stopped coming in because he’d been arrested for killing multiple people. Now, they’re understandably wary of anyone who puts too much Splenda in their coffee.

Other Redditors have recalled the times they maybe (or definitely) encountered a serial killer, and your fear of hitchhikers will be 100 percent confirmed.

Danivelle 3то ago I know 100% certain sure that I encountered Gerald and Charlene Gallegos. I told my friend who was buying into Gerald's modeling scheme, that I saw my mother and dragged her away from them. Later that day, they kidnapped and murdered Brenda Judd and Sandra Colley, who I went to school with. 31 Reply Share ...
3то ago cats_meow82299 I had dinner with Sean Patrick Goble twice. Не frightened me as a child, I could feel and see his hate. You guys and gals can look him up. Nothing more to say except I am happy he is off the streets. His heart is cold like death, as it will be. Не should never walk along us again 31 Share Reply ...
AdamaForPresident . 3то ago I met the Yosemite park killer. Не worked at the lodge my family was staying at. I was alone with him at one point while he was fixing a TV that was broken in our room. 35 Reply Share ...
crepelabouche 3mo ago Was staying at a friends apartment in Indianapolis. Him and his husband went to bed so I got on Grindr. Was talking to this guy who had very specific questions about body hair and weight and all that. Just thought he was a little odd. Met him and got in his car and I went cold. Не started talking to me and he was angry. I can smell alcohol on you. Have you been drinking? Uh, yeah. Drinks and grindr. I wanted you sober for what I had planned for you tonight. I don't like it when
libby1412 3то ago Back in about 1988-89, my parents (along with us 4 kids) were driving on a highway, and a man was broken down on the side of the road. Dad pulled over and spoke to the guy and the guy was acting strange so Dad left. It turned out to be Ivan Milat who was a serial killer in Australia. Не travelled up and down the east coast and was confirmed to be in the area at that time. I'm pretty sure it was when Dad stopped picking up hitch-hikers. Reply Share 45 ...
TimedRevolver 5y ago Edited 5y ago I worked at my dad's automotive shop in my mid teens (I was basically slave labor, to be honest), and usually answered the phones, rarely doing any ACTUAL work on vehicles. I was basically janitor meets receptionist. One day, he and his friend/employee Chuck go to pick up a car in another city. Towing it back, will be gone at least two hours. Car comes pulling up the drive, older man with glasses gets out, says he needs work done on his car. I tell him that I'm just minding the place until the
yerawizerd4lyfe 3то ago My mom worked at a grocery store as a teenager and there was a guy she worked with that used to walk her out to her car after they closed. Не was later convicted of killing 2 young women and had blood in his car still which is how they figured out it was him. Не had walked her to her car many times before getting caught. She said he was a bit strange but was a nice guy and she was always friendly to him. She thinks that's what probably saved her from becoming one of
5y ago I briefly knew a man who killed his whole family, several children and his wife. Не was a nice dude, pretty religious and overall normal. I was pretty young when I met him and his kids, he was respectful and just your average dude, I only knew he was dangerous when I heard the news years later, his name is Mesac damas if you wanna google him 46 Share ...
KnowButtholeKnowCare 5y ago It was 1989, my dad was driving down a road late at night. Не lived in Florida. As he was driving, he saw a woman on the side of the road trying to hitch hike. My dad, being kindhearted, slowed down to give her a ride. As he slowed down, he had a chill down his spine and had the worst feeling he ever felt. Не did not pick up that woman. That woman was named Aileen Wournos. She killed a man on that road later in the day. My little brother exists today because my dad
greenmangolassi 3mo ago There was a missing tourist in our town, and I had been asked to help find her by friends of the missing girl's family. Spoke to the family and started following up leads including her couch surfing host. The host, a local teacher, told me over coffee that she left one day to go hitchhiking south. Didn't think anything of it. Turns out he had already murdered her by that point. Не was caught a few weeks later when he turned on her phone which the police were tracking. Reply Share 84 ...
Reasonable_Click2029 3mo ago Back when I was a freshman in college I worked at a Starbucks drive thru store. We had a regular customer in his mid-to-late forties, he would come in everyday at the same time and get the same bizarre order: a venti black coffee with 18 Splendas. Не was polite but kind of off. One day we realize we haven't seen him in a few days and one of us joke saying I hope he didn't die. Well, he didn't die, but he stopped coming in because he had gotten arrested for killing multiple people. We found
robthegreek 3mo ago Not knowing it at the time, but i came face to face and exchanged harsh words with Levi Bellfield, child / adult serial killer, his crew clamped my car about 20+ years ago, i had permission to park where i did (long boring story), all i can remember is that he looked dead behind the eyes, never showed more than one facial expression during our exchange. 101 Reply Share ...
robot_boat_loan 3mo ago I met the Golden State killer about a month before he was caught. At the time I was a manager with a delivery company doing a ride along with a driver, and we delivered his medication. Не signed and chatted us up for a minute before we left. Honestly pretty standard delivery, but when he was caught the driver who was on that guy's route was freaking out telling everyone he had a regular customer who was a serial killer. Honestly no one had any clue the guy was a murderer. Не seemed like a normal guy
dboyr 3mo ago Was sitting on the street in NYC eating dinner with two friends when this man walked past our table. I'm typically skeptical of anything spiritual but something about his appearance and his energy was so off putting that as soon as he walked past my gut screamed at me that he was evil. Clean cut 40 something normal guy, but just was emanating this insanely dark aura | guess you'd call it. Never experienced that before. Before I could say anything, my friend next to me mentioned he thought the guy was a serial killer and my
Past_Influence1990 3mo ago My friend's mom told us that while her sister was in college someone knocked on her dorm door late at night and she was about to answer it but her roommate told her not to bc stranger danger. The next day they found out that the women next door were murdered. By Ted Bundy. 287 Share Reply ...
zeroentanglements 3то ago My dad hired a serial killer in 2008. Just before the great recession became real, my dad hired this guy to work in his IT department at a real estate adjacent type of company. Не was a nice guy and good worker, but had to be let go when the economy tanked. Just a few weeks later he got caught dumping a dead prostitute's body off the side of the freeway. After he was arrested and all that, his DNA linked him to a similar killing from like 1994. Hard to believe that he only did it
cosmatic 3mo ago My wife (then fiancee) and I were out in brooklyn one night, reasonably drunk, and hailed a cab to go home. The moment I sat inside something felt wrong. The car seemed more barebones than a usual taxi and the driver had a strange affect. There was also a slightly bad smell. The driver was kind of muttering under his breath and making these quiet burps. Every alarm inside of me starting going off, I wasn't consciously analyzing it, it just knew it wasn't safe. The guy starts driving maybe 10 feet and when I stop him,
Vaaca_Del_Muerte 5y ago It was my biological dad's 30th birthday and we decided to throw him a surprise party and invited a bunch of people from his work. My brother and I were in our room playing on the Sega Genesis because it was all adults and we just wanted to stay out of their way. While we were playing together, a dude comes in and sits on our bed to watch us play. Не said his name was Danny and asked us a bunch of weird questions. Do you take the bus to school? How old are you? What's
Leoka 3то ago Not pretty sure, sure. I'll bet this comment will get buried - but the prolific Canadian serial killer Elizabeth wettlaufer was in my house. She was my dad's home care nurse very briefly after surgery. I said hi to her, she pretty much ignored me. Very quiet. My dad said she was really 'off' and weird, most of his other nurses had great bedside manner but she was very aloof. Luckily she was only there once or twice and showed some restraint with the whole murder thing. Reply Share 338 ...
la_corncob-trying 2y ago Не was in our small town for 20 years, worked for the Railroad. Grew vegetables which he sold at the local farmers market. Frequented the local diner & liquor store. Known throughout the community as an odd guy, but no one expected what he had done. His step kids use to throw parties in high school. Just months ago DNA linked him to 3 murders, assaults & 2 attempted murders & assaults in the late 80's, & early 90s. Died of cancer ten years ago. Just a surreal crazy feeling for everyone to find out he did
RealDegeneracy 5y ago There was a time when kidnappings were happening in my home country. I encountered one of the kidnappers at 6 years old, who, true to the stereotype, offered me candy. Lucky for me, the only candy that has ever and can ever entice me to be stupid is Twizzlers. Lucky for me, he only had Nerds and Starburst. I ran off and told him no thanks.
angelrein 3mo ago not me but my grandmother, this was in Florida, she told me about how this man came up to her way back in the day saying he was injured and needed help. he was wearing a bright yellow shirt, not related but i remember her pointing that out. she told him that she was really sorry but she was in a rush to go because she was going to meet her sister to make plans for an upcoming family gathering they had planned so she couldn't be of assistance and pointed him in the direction of the nearest
BalanceAcrobatic577 3то ago Edited 3mo ago My grandmother swears she met David Parker Ray, aka the Toybox killer. My grandfather was stationed in Fort Bliss so she took her 3 daughters camping in Elephant Bute State Park, the same place where he was a ranger. She said a ranger kept trying to get them to stay in his trailer instead of camping by the lake. Obviously they refused and went on a hike but when they came back their campsite was trashed so she packed them all up and drove home in the dark. When I got into true crime
documentingkate 3mo ago I was at a shopping mall in Los Angeles, when a man approached me saying he was a casting agent/photographer. Immediately I knew something was off with the guy, because that's the number one scam in the book, but he just gave off such vibes that I instinctively knew he was very dangerous. I politely took his card and made a mad dash to the H&M and hid in the dressing stalls. I alerted a staff member and they had security walk me to the car. The gift of fear is real and trust it! About two
gentlespirit23456 3mo ago Ok. One time it was driving home from the bar late one night. This car was behind, flashing his brights on and off. I pulled up to my driveway and he stopped behind me. Не said he was a peace officer and showed his badge. Не said he needed me to follow him home because he told his wife he was out with a friend and wanted to show his wife his friend so she didn't think he was lying. I immediately said no and he was so persistent. Mind you this was at 3 am. I
extraalligator 3mo ago Traveling out of state for a vacation with my kids- at a gas station this man starts trying to talk to my young daughter. I immediately got between them but not before my daughter blurted out exactly where we were going and how long we would be there. I suddenly felt sick. Something about the guy scared me. I just knew there was going to be a problem. hustled the kids back to the car and waited to drive away out of fear he might follow us. I didn't see him come out so eventually I drove
SerenityJoyMeowMeow 3mo ago Edited 3mo ago I'm definitely sure I have because my cousin is one. We were quite close (before it was revealed to me and the rest of our family that he is a monster) and our last 'encounter' was in September 2020, when he hugged and consoled me at my dad's viewing (his death wasn't related to the cousin). Roughly 6 weeks later he killed his final victim and was arrested two weeks after that. That's when we all found out the truth about him. + Reply Share 3.7K ...
monroerl 3то ago Robert Lee Yates was an Army pilot flying OH-58s while I was flying UH-1s (same battalion but different company) at Fort Drum, NY. They would send us down to fly helicopter simulators once a year in Pennsylvania to maintain our instrument ratings. We would carpool in one vehicle. Bob had a van with shag carpet in the back so he would drive about 5 of us during those trips. It was about a 4 hour drive so we'd joke and tell stories to pass the time. I was a fairly new pilot who enjoyed hearing the veteran
Pen_dragons_pizza 3mo ago I was once sat in my car at the back of a country lane carpark eating pizza in the dark with a friend, no street lights and just woods surrounding. Finished up and turned on the headlights and all we could see was a man army crawling towards the car, was a few metres away. I have never turned the ignition so fast and sped off in my life, to make it scarier the guy just slowly got up and looked at us, didn't try to chase or grab the car or anything. + 3K Reply Share
Shot_Construction455 3mo ago I had an employee that worked for me doing minor maintenance repairs on construction equipment. One day it just took him way too long on a job and I was pissed. I pulled the GPS info and he was nowhere near where he was supposed to be. My admin and I both called him repeatedly with no response. Now I'm even more pissed because this wasn't the first time he took too long/didn't answer his company provided nextel radio. We start digging. Find out it has happened repeatedly. Не gets back late and I waited for him,
stomps78 3mo ago My dad and his best friend (who went to play in the nfl) picked up a hitchhiker. It was severely cold, like -20. The hitchhiker was in the backseat, when an alert came on the radio about an escaped murderer. They gave a description and it match the guy in the back seat. Не took their driver's licenses and told them if they told anyone, he had their addresses and he'd find em. They didn't tell anyone for a few years and their not sure if he ever was caught. 32 Reply Share ...
