This Is What The Simpsons’ Birth Years Would Be If the Show Was Set in 2025

Have you ever watched The Simpsons and felt there was something missing? Bart shouting “Skibidi toilet!” every five minutes and taking a “fanum tax” of Homer’s Lard Lad donuts? Maggie transfixed by a Cocomelon-playing iPad? Marge hyping herself as having “did a thing” after preparing an avocado toast dinner for the entire family?
Not only are you insane — and spending way too much time on TikTok — but you may just be onto something: By today’s standards, Marge and Homer Simpson are technically Millennials, with their three kids clocking in as members of Gen Alpha.
Don't Miss
Throughout The Simpsons’ three-and-a-half decades on the air, few Springfield residents have significantly aged, a fact we can attribute to the series’ floating timeline. Used in other shows like Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy and King of the Hill’s pre-time-jump seasons, this plot device is an animation staple, allowing The Simpsons to reference “MyPhones” and introduce Lisa to Billie Eilish without sending Homer hurdling toward retirement, forcing Maggie to pursue a PhD or having to introduce Snowball VI, VII and VIII.
To some fans, however, this floating timeline poses more questions than it answers, with some wondering exactly when Homer and Marge — whose ages have respectively risen to their late 30s throughout the series — as well as Bart (10), Lisa (8) and Maggie (1) would have been born if the show was truly contemporary.
Using the base ages of 38 and 34 for Homer and Marge, Redditor Eoinharrington25 decided to crunch the numbers for the The Simpsons subreddit. Finding that Homer would have been born in 1987, Marge in 1991, Bart in 2015, Lisa in 2017 and Maggie in 2024, several fans had issues with Eoinharrington25’s calculations. Namely: that a millennial Marge made them feel really old.
“I hit the report button, but I can’t find the option that says ‘OP caused me pain,’” joked Blythyvxr, while JaggedLittleFrill opted to simply live in denial. “Nope. No. Not today,” they wrote. “I refuse to believe I’m older than Marge.”
Sadly, though, we’re all gonna have to learn to accept that, unlike our favorite cartoon family, none of us are getting any younger.
