Disney Fan Accidentally Takes Ride Photo With Kaitlin Olson and Rob McElhenney

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Rob McElhenney celebrated his 48th birthday on Monday. To celebrate the big day, or possibly to grieve the recent cancelation of Mythic Quest, McElhenney and his Sunny co-star/wife of 16 years Kaitlin Olson visited the Happiest Place on Earth.
No, not the Paddy’s Pub men’s room, we’re talking about Disneyland!
Don't Miss
This information comes from Disney parks superfan @DisneyScoopGuy, who posted a ride photo from Tiana’s Bayou Adventure — the less-horrific Splash Mountain remake — in which they happened to be seated behind McElhenney and Olson. It’s also possible that Danny DeVito was there too, but wasn’t tall enough for the ride.
The person in the plaid vest seated between the couple is one of Disneyland’s VIP tour guides. The fact that Disney seemingly provided the pair with their own private guide isn’t too surprising considering that It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is now owned by Disney, as is Olson’s show High Potential and McElhenney’s soccer football docuseries Welcome to Wrexham. What is surprising is that the TV stars were totally cool about boarding the ride with a total stranger, rather than brushing them aside and leaving them to wait in line with the rest of the commoners.
“Honestly, this alone makes me love them more, cause it means they don’t think themselves above you or others if they’re happy to ride with a rando,” one fan responded on Reddit. Others were quick to post Sunny jokes, asking the rider if they saved room “for Rum Ham,” and suggesting that “Dennis wasn’t there because he’s not allowed around children.”
The fan also confirmed that McElhenney was indeed at the park to celebrate his birthday, and was even wearing one of the “It’s My Birthday” buttons that Disneyland gives out for free when it’s your special day. “I saw the button and instinctively said happy birthday then realized I’d just wished Rob McElhenny a happy birthday and he thanked me,” @DisneyScoopGuy wrote.
So there you have it, apart from the VIP tour guides that cost us non-famous people between $500 and $700 per hour, celebrities are just like us. And now that the actors who play Mac and Dee have had fun time at Disneyland, it may only be a matter of time before the Mouse House forces the entire cast of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia to make a cross-promotional trip to a Disney theme park, just like they did with the characters from nearly every single ABC sitcom in the ‘90s.
Of course, that idea could easily go very, very wrong.
