Jason Alexander Reveals the Touching Reason Why His Marriage Has Lasted 43 Years

Seinfeld star and comedy legend Jason Alexander considers himself a “lucky man” for having been married to his dear wife Daena Title for so many decades, but luck has nothing to do with it — sometimes, you just need to splurge on the expensive wedding invitations.

Despite his acclaimed performance playing the living embodiment every selfish, shameless and immature impulse that the male mind can produce, the man who once was George Costanza has shown ample ability to self-reflect and self-correct, showing that Seinfeld’s “no hugging, no learning” rule didn’t extend to its actors. Any time an A-list celebrity like Alexander manages to stay married for more than a few months, they demonstrate an unusual level of emotional intelligence for a member of the actor class, and, naturally, questions about how they managed to pull off a happy marriage will come at them from perplexed press and hapless peers alike.

During Alexander’s recent appearance on Today, the seasoned thespian drew on his years of drama training when his hosts asked him if he has any relationship advice that he has gleaned from his many years of matrimony, saying, “I’m married to a woman who lives this thing that I first heard of in (Lorraine Hansberry’s play) A Raisin in the Sun, it’s kind of quoted there, but (Daena) does it, and it goes something like this: on my worst day, she remembers me on my best day and beckons me back.”

“If you have a partner who can do that, because we all have worst days, you dont give up on that partner,” Alexander continued.

“Jason, youre a very luck man,” Today host Savannah Guthrie told her guest.

Alexander replied emphatically, “I am a very lucky man.”

In past interviews, Alexander has revealed that he and his now-wife started living together just three weeks after they began dating, and, at six weeks, Alexander proposed to Title, who gently turned him down. Alexander asked his love two more times if she would marry him, and both times she declined, only acquiescing to Alexanders proposal after he paid to put up a billboard that read, “Daena, I love you, please marry me, forever — Jason,” as he explained during a 2015 appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden.

In their 40 years of marriage, Title and Alexander experienced the latters meteoric rise to comedy superstardom on Seinfeld, they raised two kids together and they continued to love each other through it all. Thankfully, Alexanders love life is nothing like the dating habits of his most famous character, otherwise theres a good chance that hed still be living at his parents house right now.
