Unless you’re watching one of those suspicious art house joints, movies typically have good guys and bad guys, and the ones opposing freedom are generally the latter. At least in America, it doesn’t get much more obviously evil than trying to control what nonviolent people can and can’t do.

On the other hand, a lot of modern stories feature “good guys” who are kiiiiinda fascist. For example, just about every superhero movie asks you to agree that some people are better than others and they should be allowed to do whatever they want, no matter what law it breaks or who it hurts.
