Rob McElhenney Posts Touching Tribute to Late ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ Costar Lynne Marie Stewart

This past Friday, February 21st, TV comedy legend Lynne Marie Stewart passed away at the age of 78, leaving the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia family in mourning for its merriest mother.
Stewart, who started her career in television playing numerous nursing roles on the hit series M*A*S*H in the 1970s, left her fingerprints all over American humor before she passed on, especially through her performance as Miss Yvonne, the Most Beautiful Woman in Puppet Land on The Pee-wee Herman Show and Pee-wee’s Playhouse. It was through Stewart’s collaborations with fellow late legend Paul Reubens that future It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star and co-creator Rob McElhenney first discovered Stewart's comedic brilliance, and when he eventually came to call Stewart a colleague, he learned that the joy she brought to the world didn’t take five when he yelled “cut.”
Don't Miss
Today, as the comedy world continues to eulogize the late Stewart, McElhenney posted his own in memoriam for the late Bonnie Kelly:
“This is how I’ll remember her,” McElhenney wrote in the caption of the above post. “Laughing hysterically and making everyone around her light up with joy. She was a true professional but much more, a buzzing beacon of all that is good and right in the world. Lynn (sic) was a constant reminder that we can laugh and love our way through life and that sharing it with others in the whole point of what we do. Thank you Mrs Kelly. Thank you Miss Yvonne. Thank you Lynn. We’ll miss you forever.”
In addition to McElhenney’s warm words of gratitude for the time he spent with the late comedy great, other members of the Paddy’s Pub Gang offered their own expressions of love and grief for Stewart. Charlie Day, Stewart’s onscreen son in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, posted this reel from Stewart’s time playing Bonnie:
Glenn Howerton reposted Day’s above reel on his own Instagram Story, and both Danny DeVito and Kaitlin Olson expressed their thoughts on social media following Stewart’s passing:
It’s unclear if Stewart will appear in Season 17 of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, which wrapped filming back in December. However, we can likely expect the show to pay tribute to the late actress, just as the show has done for past cast and crew members who have passed away.
