This ‘Abbott Elementary’ Fan Has Notes After Binging the First Two Seasons of ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’
As every It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia fan predicted, curious Abbott Elementary fans are now finding the FX show to be drastically different from the Gang’s cameo on ABC — for instance, Dennis is in it.
Leading up to the premiere of the very special Abbott Elementary episode featuring the core cast of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Quinta Brunson begged fans of her family-friendly ABC sitcom Abbott Elementary not to make the mistake of thinking It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia would have a similar warm glow and accessibility, but much like a bunch of unruly second-graders, they refused to listen to her. And, in the inevitable eventuality that fans of soft lighting, uplifting humor and characters who mostly don’t deserve to die in prison ignore Brunson’s warnings, Always Sunny star Kaitlin Olson wrote out a detailed Always Sunny episode starter pack for curious Abbott Elementary fans who definitely shouldn’t start her show at its slur-filled first season.
Don't Miss
Nevertheless, some stubborn Abbott Elementary fans thumbed their nose at the very valuable advice from both sitcom stars, and as soon as the Abbott Elementary mid-season premiere “Volunteers” ended, they immediately ventured to the wild side of Hulu and started watching “The Gang Gets Racist.” One such Abbott fan has survived two entire seasons of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and they recently took to the Always Sunny subreddit to report their findings.
As every Always Sunny viewer knows and Abbott Elementary fan Bulimic_pig02 wrote in a thread titled, “As Someone Who Never Watched IASIP Before the Abbott Crossover…,” the Paddy’s Pub Gang acts very differently when they’re actually in Paddy's Pub compared to their relative composure while doing court-ordered community service at a public elementary school.
“FYI, I am only on season two of ISAP (sic) so my impression of all the characters might still be inaccurate,” Bulimic_pig02 clarified before making a pretty spot-on assessment of the Always Sunny characters in the early years. “I was so shocked by how crude and narcissistic the main characters (except Dee-she and Frank let their true colors show) are.”
Specifically, Bulimic_pig02 found one Always Sunny character to be profoundly different from his put-on persona on Abbott Elementary, writing, “I would have never thought that Mac was such a jerk after he treated Ava like the queen she is. I mean he cleaned her car and bought her cupcakes with her face on them. Plus, the dude sent THANK YOU notes to all the teachers. So, do you blame me for thinking he is a sweetheart lol?”
As for the rest of the gang, Bulimic_pig02 reported that Danny DeVito didn’t seem as insane in Always Sunny Season Two as he did on Abbott (just keep watching), and, “I was surprised by what a creep Charlie is. That poor waitress lady…”
“I had no clue Dennis existed,” Bulimic_pig02 rounded out of the bunch, a filthy (but completely understandable given the first part of the crossover) thought that necessitates a thorough mind-cleaning in the form of binge-watching 14 more seasons — only when they are clean will they know Dennis’ power.
