Has there ever been an artistic medium that rose and fell so fast and hard as the music video? Before the ‘80s, it was basically unheard of, then it was the single most important method of advertising a song, then it disappeared around the time MTV became a reality show network. Sure, musicians still make music videos today, but they’re fun little side projects to throw on YouTube, not the main thing that they do.
