Bill Hader Attempts to Join News Team Covering L.A. Fires
Dozens of celebrities have already lost their homes in the wildfires that continue to devastate Southern California, but the A-list community of Los Angeles County is also in a unique position to help out those on the front lines of the tragic event. Enter investigative reporter Bill Hader.
Right now, tens of thousands of Americans living in the Los Angeles area are displaced or unhoused due to the wildfires that continue to ravage the region, and among them are some of the most famous entertainers in the entire world. As a result, many of Hollywood’s most recognizable stars, both those directly affected by the fire and those just hoping to help out, have devoted their talents, their platforms and their money to supporting those first responders and aid workers who are working tirelessly to end the blazes and mitigate the damage done to the many impacted communities.
Don't Miss
For Saturday Night Live legend and Barry star/creator Bill Hader, that means putting on his journalist hat and attempting to hop into the van of the ABC7 news team covering the fire in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood, as ABC’s Josh Haskell hilariously reported:
While many celebrities in Los Angeles are organizing fundraisers for American Red Cross' Wildfire Relief, donating to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation or helping LA Food Bank keep first responders and affected citizens fed through this trying time, Hader, apparently, would rather get his hands dirty, possibly by holding a boom microphone or a Steadicam for the ABC film crew.
If Hader’s plan was to do some reporting of his own, the comedian doesn’t operate an official account on any social media platform, so it’s not clear how, exactly, he planned on airing his coverage of the Pacific Palisades blaze. Perhaps Hader just assumed that his time on Weekend Update would have subconsciously taught him journalistic instincts that would carry over to live disaster coverage. Though I’m not sure anyone watching local news in L.A. right now is all that interested in learning what Stefon says is the “hottest club” in the city.
