George Costanza May Have Been Conceived on Festivus
Of all of the traditions that have come to define Festivus — the feats of strength, the airing of grievances, the enraged screams of “Serenity now!” — there’s one bit of holiday lore that Frank Costanza apparently forgot to mention: It also happened to coincide with the conception of his son George.
Though the specific details of George’s birthday have long remained a mystery, several eagle-eyed fans recently noticed a strange coincidence connecting Seinfeld star Jason Alexander to the fictitious holiday: the actor was born exactly nine months after Festivus’ December 23 date.
Don't Miss
“Jason Alexander’s birthday is precisely nine months (after) Festivus,” Redditor InGenNateKenny captioned a screengrab of the actor’s Wikipedia page highlighting his September 23rd birthday on the Seinfeld subreddit. “I can’t be the only person to have noticed this, right?”
Beyond sparking debates over whether George and Jason — like Jerry Seinfeld and his onscreen counterpart — shared a birthday, or if George was actually born in April, as was mentioned during Season Two’s “The Heart Attack,” others focused on the Festivus of it all, questioning what, exactly went down in the years prior to the holiday’s official formation.
“His parents had an unusually vigorous feats of strength the Festivus before his birth date,” joked pastabowl21.
Along those lines, cvaninvan added that the Costanza patriarch must’ve gotten creative with how he “laid out all his grievances” that fateful year.
Whether or not George was actually an early Festivus miracle — considering the holiday was conceived after a toy-store trip gone wrong — or another grievance for Frank to air, we’re at least glad someone got lucky on the Seinfeld-ian holiday.
