Catastrophic Truck Crash Destroys the Home of Grizz From ‘30 Rock’

Grizz Chapman, who rose to national fame playing one-half of Tracy Jordan’s security detail on 30 Rock, has been left temporarily unhoused after a disastrous car crash caused a tractor-trailer to demolish his condominium in Prince William County, Virginia.

On Monday, a crash sent a semi-truck barreling into the Moorings of Occoquan Condominiums where Chapman, 50, lived for two years before the catastrophe. According to NBC Washington, an SUV driven by an unidentified 67-year-old man illegally pulled in front of the freight truck on the main boulevard near Chapman’s condo, causing the truck to T-bone the car and sending both vehicles sprawling off the road.

Now, Chapman is temporarily living in a nearby hotel, and he says that he’s lost almost all of his most valuable possessions, including numerous pieces of 30 Rock memorabilia from his time on the beloved sitcom. Chapman’s 30 Rock co-star and bodyguard partner, Kevin Dot Com Brown, has since started a GoFundMe to help Chapman rebuild his life.

The crash injured four people, destroyed 11 cars and sent wreckage smashing into Chapmans home early Monday morning, but fortunately, Chapman wasnt home when the accident occurred. “I just play it over in my head that the truck just came in like that, and that was a side that I sleep on,” the actor told NBC Washington.

“My neighbor called screaming and crying and concerned because everybody thought that I was downstairs,” Chapman recalled, noting that the wreck destroyed “a lot of 30 Rock memorabilia that I had over the years.” Chapman said. “I haven’t really assessed everything that was damaged,” adding, “Everything is just all over the place. Everything’s everywhere.”

Chapman is waiting for answers from his insurance company who have not yet agreed to cover any of his expenses while he lives in the hotel, and he says that his next step is to find a place to stay before the holidays. “I just got to figure out from here, and hopefully I get some sort of help,” Chapman said.

On the GoFundMe page, Brown noted that Chapman “is still doing dialysis three days week and keeping his faith,” adding, “As his friend I will do everything that I can to help him through this trying time, but not only did working with this very talented man change my life, but I am aware that he touched the lives of millions.”
