Children’s television is a double-edged sword: In order to be engaging for babies, it needs to be colorful, loud and slow (in other words, exactly the sort of thing that drives adults up the wall), but if you’re a parent and you want five minutes of otherwise peace, you’ve gotta put up with it. After a while, it can really make you hate specific shows and even develop intense grudges toward their characters, who are usually children themselves. This is why your parents are crazy.

Either half of the title — Chip, an enthusiastic little girl who is also a pug who wears a jean jacket, or Potato, her giggly pet mouse — could have easily “inspired this question,” as the user put it.
