Fans Have a Lot of Suggestions for the Rumored Return of ‘Simpsons’ LEGO
The Simpsons has obviously spawned a ton of merchandise over the past 35 years — from dolls, to video games, to erotic shower gels. But there hasn’t been a lot of Simpsons-themed LEGO. In fact, it’s been 10 years since the famous Danish toy company released the Simpson family home building set. They also released a Kwik-E-Mart set, and an assortment Simpsons minifigures. But after that, there was nothing.
Which is more than a little surprising considering that The Simpsons-LEGO combo was a big deal at the time. The show even aired a LEGO-themed episode, “Brick Like Me,” specifically to tie into the toy release.
But now, after nearly a decade, there are rumors that LEGO is finally going to be releasing another Simpsons set in 2025. Specifically, it’s going to be a Krusty Burger set.
Fans seem to have a lot of suggestions for what this set could include. One LEGO enthusiast previously created his own design for a Krusty Burger set and submitted it to the LEGO Ideas website. His proposal (which was “not approved”) featured Marge’s station wagon, and a lineup of characters that included the “Squeaky-Voiced Teen” as well as Krusty’s monkey sidekick Mr. Teeny.
This week, the LEGO-themed website Brick Fanatics responded to the news by offering a number of references that LEGO should consider including in their set, such as a transparent grease wall (Dr. Nick Riviera’s “window to weight gain”), a Krusty Burglar minifigure (for the Homer figure to pummel half-to-death) and some kind of nod to the most famous Krusty Burger purchase of all: Principal Skinner’s “steamed hams.” Also, don’t forget to include “Hot Lettuce Injections” on the menu.
Even Simpsons writer Josh Weinstein weighed in on the subject, proposing that LEGO include an “interchangeable IRS Burger sign.”
And I’ll just put this out there: If the set includes a Krusty minifigure, he should come with a tiny flask, for when kids/toy-loving adults want to pretend that he’s filming a commercial and accidentally swallows some of the burger juice.
It seems doubtful that the fan appetite for Simpsons LEGO will be satiated by just the one Krusty Burger set. A lot of people have already been creating their own Simpsons LEGO sets using only the power of imagination/disdain for the Walt Disney corporation’s intellectual property laws.
For instance, fans have made LEGO versions of Flanders’ house:
Moe’s Tavern (complete with Love Tester):
And, in 2014, a Spanish event for “LEGO railway enthusiasts” showcased a LEGO take on the entire town of Springfield, including the burning tire yard, Springfield Elementary and a working monorail:
Of course, LEGO isn’t exactly the most affordable hobby. The allegedly upcoming miniature version of Springfield’s preferred fast-food joint will reportedly set you back $229. Which is almost enough to buy 700 Krusty Burgers.
