‘Wazzzuuuuuupppp!!!!!’: The Wayans Brothers Will Be Returning for ‘Scary Movie’ Reboot
Almost 25 years after Scary Movie first took our cash, credit cards, jewelry and drawers, the iconic film franchise is back for more: Namely, our fleeting sense of aughts nostalgia, 90 minutes of our undivided attention and a $15 theater ticket.
On Tuesday, Marlon Wayans headed to social media with a Halloween-themed announcement, revealing that fans would soon be saying “wazzzuuuuuupppp!!!!!” to a new installment of the beloved horror/comedy series spearheaded by him and his brothers, Shawn and Keenen Ivory Wayans.
Don't Miss
“WE’RE BACK!!!” he captioned a photo of him alongside the series’ goofy killer.
“After nearly 20 years, the Wayans brothers are finally going to give the fans what they’ve been asking for… a return to the SCARY MOVIE franchise!” the post continued. “We’re looking forward to having fun on the big screen again.”
Marking the first time that the Wayans Brothers have been involved in the series since 2001’s Scary Movie 2, production on the highly-anticipated film is set for the remainder of the year, with the finished film hitting theaters at some point in 2025, per Deadline.
Fans already have thoughts about what they’d want to see in a sixth Scary Movie, offering the Wayans “a big clue” or two on what they should consider including in the script.
“Get Cindy and Brenda back!!!” demanded @TimeLordAlex, alongside a still of Anna Faris and Regina Hall as their legendary characters.
“I’m down, just don’t bring on Jack Black or Chris Pratt,” joked @SifuYeti.
Meanwhile, @LukeFlux1 had a subversive suggestion for a new addition to the cast. “Melissa Barrera has the opportunity to do the funniest thing,” they argued, referencing the legendary scream queen who was controversially fired last fall from Scream 7 due to her social media posts about the war in Gaza.
Either way, it’s nice for the Wayans to have a shot at continuing/wrapping up the series on their own terms after being unceremoniously dumped from it by Hollywood’s actual scariest monster: Harvey Weinstein.
