Roy Wood Jr. Has the Best Shannon Sharpe Instagram Live Joke
Run, Shannon, run!
Right now, roughly half the internet is currently clowning NFL Hall of Fame tight end and shit-starting podcast giant Shannon Sharpe for accidentally going live on Instagram while having sex with an unidentified woman earlier this week, exposing the world to the slightly uncomfortable and awkwardly hilarious sounds of his most intimate moments. At the same time, former Daily Show correspondent Roy Wood Jr. made entertainment news headlines by finalizing a deal to start a Saturday night comedy show on CNN, joking of his decision to join a traditional news network that isn’t exactly known for its sense of humor or its weekend programming, “I like comedy in tough places.”
Don't Miss
Well, to celebrate his graduation from working on a comedy news show to running a comedy show on a news network, Wood decided to tackle a news story that you won’t ever see covered on CNN even after he joins the network by posting this hilarious edit of Sharpe’s embarrassing soundbite that shows how Twitter is like a box of chocolates:
Sharpe has since apologized for accidentally inviting his Instagram followers hear him play a different game of inches, telling fellow former NFL star Chad Ochocinco in an emergency episode of their podcast Night Cap, “Obviously I am embarrassed. (As) someone that is extremely, extremely private and to have one of your most intimate details — the audio — heard for the entire world to hear, I’m embarrassed for a number of reasons,” adding, “There are a lot of people that count on Shannon to be professional at all times, and I always try to be professional at all times, even when I’m behind closed doors.”
I don’t know if Sharpe’s “professionalism” is exactly why we’re so interested in his media career, seeing as he’s created the perfect platform for comedians such as Katt Williams and Mo'Nique to start or restart extremely entertaining and preposterously unprofessional celebrity beefs. However, when Wood starts working at CNN, the stuffy legacy news media will certainly hold him to a higher standard than Sharpe holds his guests, or his own ability to lock his phone before laying it down.
Sadly, Wood’s Saturday night show probably won’t have any room for Forrest Gump edits set to the sounds of celebrity sex tapes, which is yet another reason why Comedy Central’s decision to let him walk instead of hiring him as the permanent host of The Daily Show was completely brainless.
Stupid is as stupid does.
