This Comedian Just Mercilessly Roasted ‘SNL’s Colin Jost to Hell and Back

Comedian Chris Fleming has had it with Saturday Night Live. He’s heard that cocaine is back at 30 Rock, according to a video he posted this week on Instagram. If that’s the case, he maintained, where’s the rush? Where’s the excitement? “Let’s see some results then! You’re doing coke to do a Zillow sketch? At least Belushi used to run through a wall!”

If the gang at SNL is going to do coke, he argued, they better be on stage at Wembley Stadium scatting some gibberish nonsense. “You better be Mork & Mindy, Season One if you are on cocaine.”

It’s a crime to do coke simply to be boring or “to bomb at the Weekend Update desk,” he said. If Colin Jost is on coke, Fleming “swears to God” that he’ll carry out some unnamed threat in frustration.

All of the coke talk was really an excuse for Fleming to launch into a Jost roast. Jost exists in a very interesting space, Fleming said, “where we’re aware of him, but he is the last thing we’ve ever thought about. Like, if knowledge and awareness were a landmass, he would be on the furthestmost tip of the peninsula. He is the final pebble before the estuary of Not Knowing.”

If Jost were doing coke, wouldn’t he be more memorable? Fleming can’t understand how anyone can keep the SNL star in their brain space. “How do Colin Jost’s parents remember they have him as a kid?” he boggled. “They must have so many mnemonic devices in place and notecards all over the house, inside the fridge: ‘Colin Jost is your son.’”

The roast got even more caustic when Fleming brought Jost’s love life into the equation. “How does Scarlett Johansson not download Raya within 15 seconds of leaving her house?” he joked. “She must have Google Glasses that say ‘Colin Jost exists and he is your husband.’”

Doesn’t sound like Chris Fleming will be hired as a Saturday Night Live feature player for Season 50, but the video is getting love from the comedy world.

“Wow!!” commented Tim Heidecker.

Atsuko Okatsuka threw in a “SAVAGE.”

“Thank you for your service,” offered Nick Thune.

Legendary L.A. comedy spot Largo, where Fleming’s diatribe was filmed, chimed in as well: “Four-alarm fire at Largo last night,” accompanied by several flame and praying-hand emojis.

And at least one former SNL cast member thinks Fleming might be on to something. “Harsh,” responded Laraine Newman, part of that original cocaine-centric cast back in the 1970s. To prove she was down with the roast, she added four applauding-hands emojis along with an I’m-laughing-so-hard-I’m-crying face.
