"What A Joy": Dana Carvey Shares Touching Tribute to His Late Son
Dana Carvey’s oldest son Dex passed away Wednesday from an accidental drug overdose, the family has confirmed. “Last night, we suffered a terrible tragedy,” Carvey and his wife Paula shared. “Our beloved Dex died of an accidental drug overdose. He was 32 years old.”
Don't Miss
“Dex packed a lot into those 32 years. He was extremely talented at so many things -- music, art, film making, comedy -- and pursued all of them passionately.”
“It’s not an exaggeration to say that Dex loved life. And when you were with him, you loved life too. He made everything fun. But most of all, he loved his family, his friends and his girlfriend Kaylee.”
“Dex was a beautiful person. His handmade birthday cards are a treasure. We will miss him forever.”
“To anyone struggling with addiction or who loves someone struggling with addiction, you are in our hearts and prayers.”
Carvey followed up his tribute with two photos, first of a smiling Dex with the caption, “Fuck the tabloids. This is my boy.” (It’s not clear what tabloid Carvey was targeting, but online news outlets reported the death before the family confirmed it.)
Then there’s this picture of father and son working together, with Dana remembering, “What a joy.”
The entertainment world is sharing its condolences with Carvey and his family.
