‘You'll Be Caught Soon, I Know You Will’: Conan O’Brien Called Danny Masterson’s Conviction in 2004
If any modern monsters go on the Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend podcast and are told, “You’ll be caught soon,” they shouldn’t panic just yet — they still have a couple decades in them.
Yesterday, That ‘70s Show star Danny Masterson was sentenced to 30 years to life for two counts of forcible rape stemming from attacks he carried out between 2003 and 2004. The high-ranking Scientologist spent decades evading his accusers with the alleged assistance of the Church before a Los Angeles judge put his scot-free run to an end, telling Masterson, “Your actions 20 years ago took away another person’s voice, and choice. One way or another you will have to come to terms with your prior actions, and their consequences.”
Don't Miss
Well, in 2004, Conan had an even more cutting line for Masterson when a conversation between the two of them on Late Night turned to the sex criminal’s testicles.
As is customary every time a high-profile pervert is brought to justice, the Twitter world has been hard at work finding every historic instance of foreshadowing that should have been our first sign that the celebrity in question was a monster. As one user pointed out in the thread started by the above clip, of course Conan would be responsible for the sex crime soothsaying — after all, he was a writer for The Simpsons. Meanwhile, another commenter joked that, if and when Masterson gets out of the slammer, he’ll be ready for That 77-Year-Old Show.
