Bill Burr Joins Red Sox Broadcast, Jokes About Adultery and Spouse Killing Before Fifth Inning
It’s a shame Bill Burr didn’t get into broadcasting about 37 years ago, because his call for the Bill Buckner error in the 1986 World Series would have been legendary.
Burr is to Boston sports-inspired anger what Fenway Park is to the Green Monster, and last night, the legendary comic had the chance to take his talents to the big leagues. Burr joined the NESN broadcast booth to call the matchup between the Boston Red Sox and the Minnesota Twins as he unleashed a steady stream of barely broadcastable bangers, riffing on everything from the Astros cheating scandal to, uh, spousal murders during the Sox’ 5-4 extra innings loss.

This wasn’t the first time Burr has joined Kevin Youkilis and Dave O’Brien in the broadcasting booth, and with any luck, it won’t be the last. Though the censors may be as upset with Burr after last night as he is with the Celtics after the Eastern Conference Finals, fans on Twitter have declared that any Burr-called game is must-watch baseball.
