Here’s What Happens When You Email Homer Simpson, Bender from ‘Futurama’ and a Bunch of Other Fictional Characters
Absolutely nothing. Unfortunately, that’s what’s likely to happen if you email a fictional character’s given email address. For example, in the Futurama movie Bender’s Big Score, Bender mentions that his email address is bender@ilovebender.com; but even though people have reported replies from the shiny-assed one in the past, if you email him now, you get a bounce-back saying, “Delivery incomplete.”
The same goes for Homer Simpson, Frank Reynolds and the Riddler from 2022’s The Batman. Altogether, I tracked down 15 different fictional character email addresses and didn’t receive a single reply. Still, that wasn’t always the case. Once upon a time, most of these accounts would provide a response, at least per Reddit…
Email: bender@ilovebender.com
Current Response: “Delivery incomplete. The recipient server did not accept our requests to connect.”
Past Responses: Bender’s Big Score came out as a direct-to-DVD movie back in 2007, and if you emailed Bender back then, you could get one of several replies, like this: “Thank you for writing to me, Bender. It really means a lot to me. Not many humans contact me because I am so rude and impatient. You’re starting to get on my nerves now. Quit buggin’ me, meatbag! P.S. — Buy my DVD.”
We can only hope Disney reactivates this address when the Futurama reboot hits next month.
Homer from ‘The Simpsons ’
Email: chunkylover53@aol.com
Current Response: “Address not found. Your message to chunkylover53@aol.com cannot be delivered. This mailbox is disabled.”
Past Responses: Back in 2008, Simpsons writer Matt Selman wrote a piece about Homer’s email address for Time, explaining, “A Simpsons episode I wrote, called ‘The Dad Who Knew Too Little,’ had a joke in it where Homer gave his email address as: ChunkyLover53@aol.com. Before the show aired in 2003, I signed up for the ChunkyLover53 email address on my personal AOL account. The thinking was that if anyone wanted to write an email to Homer, it would be fun to answer back. Within minutes of the show’s first airing, ChunkyLover53’s inbox was packed to its 999-message limit.”
From there, Selman said that he originally tried to answer every email as Homer, but eventually resorted to just replying “D’oh” before giving up entirely.
Years later, a hacker managed to snag the address and tricked Simpsons fans into downloading viruses. Selman implored fans not to fall for it and to reach out to AOL to put a stop to it. It seems that this eventually worked because the email address is no more.
Sewage Joe from ‘Parks and Recreation ’
Email: stinkmaster69@alumni.sarahlawrencecollege.edu
Current Response: “Address not found”
Past Responses: This email address was never active, which makes sense as it would have to have been granted by Sarah Lawrewnce College. It’s probably for the best though, as Sewage Joe had used it to send dick pics to women in Pawnee.
Todd Packer from ‘The Office ’
Email: Packer@dundermifflin.com
Current Response: “Delivery incomplete”
Past Responses: Todd Packer’s email is mentioned when Michael Scott tries to send him an image of he and Jan, but he accidentally sends it to packaging@dundermifflin.com instead. Even though dundermifflin.com directs to Peacock’s page for The Office, it doesn’t appear that NBC ever bothered with registering these email addresses.
Liz Lemon from ‘30 Rock ’
Email: tatertotfreak@hotmail.com
Current Response: No reply
Past Responses: Back in 2012, someone named Sarah on Flickr claimed to have gotten a brief reply that read, “I’m listening, Sarah!” Unfortunately, no further details were given, and I can’t find any other examples of such a reply.
Strong Bad from ‘Homestar Runner’
Email: strongbad@homestarrunner.com
Current Response: No reply
Past Responses: Back in the early days of the internet, Homestar Runner was a viral sensation and the character Strong Bad would reply to emails with aggressive nonsense. If any of these old email addresses were still active today, I would have guessed this one, but months after sending Strong Bad an email, I’ve yet to receive a reply.
Email: upstanding-citizen@rataalada.com
Current Response: “Delivery incomplete”
Past Responses: Last year, in the build-up to The Batman’s release, DC had an online marketing campaign where you could visit Riddler’s website in the film, rataalada.com. However, they never went so far as to actually make use of his email address in the movie.
Those Two People from ‘You’ve Got Mail’
Email: shopgirl@aol.com and NY152@aol.com
Current Response: “Address not found” for both
Past Responses: Back in 2016, someone at BuzzFeed tried out these emails and struckout, just like I did seven years later.
Elliot Alderson from ‘Mr. Robot’
Email: elliotalderson@protonmail.ch
Current Response: No reply
Past Responses: Nothing here either.
Stewie Griffin from ‘Family Guy ’
Email: Loismustdie@yahoo.com
Current Response: No reply
Past Responses: In 2002, you could get an auto reply from Stewie Griffin imploring fans to support the campaign to save Family Guy: “To help save "Family Guy" from cancellation, (1) send your letters to FOX (you can get the address at http://www.planetfamilyguy.com), AND (2) sign the ‘Save Family Guy’ petition at: http://www.petitiononline.com/savefg2/petition.html. Finally, be sure to watch ‘Family Guy’ TWICE A WEEK — THURSDAYS at 8:00 and 8:30 PM PT/ET ON FOX (and tell others to do the same)!!”
Spoiler alert: Family Guy did end up getting saved.
Cuddlywhiskers from ‘BoJack Horseman ’
Email: cuddly.whiskers@harvard.edu
Current Response: “Recipient address rejected: User unknown in local recipient table”
Past Responses: Nope, surprise, surprise, Harvard never issued an official harvard.edu email address to a cartoon hamster.
Richard Splett from ‘Veep ’
Email: splett2@splettnet.net
Current Response: “Delivery incomplete”
Past Responses: Splettnet.net goes to HBO’s Veep page, but it doesn’t seem as though that email was ever registered.
Rad Thibodeaux from ‘King of the Hill ’
Email: SOOORAD@aol.com
Current Response: “Address not found”
Past Responses: Although Luanne’s boyfriend Rad was voiced by Matthew McConaughey, King of the Hill producers didn’t seem to register this address either.
Frank Reynolds from ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia ’
Email: f.reynolds@warthog-orgyfart.edu
Current Response: “Address not found”
Past Responses: I was hoping that, at some point in time, you could’ve gotten a free egg in the mail from Danny DeVito himself, but this email — and warthog-orgyfart.edu — were unfortunately entirely fictitious.
Lisa Simpson from The Simpsons
Email: Smartgirl63@yahoo.com
Current Response: “Auto response: i will send you an answer as soon as possible. Sincerely, Lisa Simpson”
Past Responses: It doesn’t appear as though Lisa has ever written back to anyone from that email, but her auto response was the closest thing I got to a reply, so I’m holding out hope that someday I’ll hear back from her.
