The Man Making A.I. SpongeBob Covers of Emo Songs
Unlike egregiously tight skinny jeans and heat-damaged straight bangs, A.I. doesn’t seem to be a phase. In fact, we’re outright ignoring the cautionary advice of just about every science-fiction film of the last 50 years in favor of seeing how far it can be developed. Its use has been the center of some contentious debates, with even Joe Rogan commenting that the burgeoning technology is a slippery slope.
Generally speaking, there’s plenty of reason to be wary of artificial intelligence as a whole. But in some cases, this technology can be used for good. Case in point: TikToker Adam Fneiche, the self-proclaimed @skapresident of the USA, has taken familiar voices from SpongeBob SquarePants and trained them to sing early aughts hits that defined a generation.
While not limited to the denizens of Bikini Bottom, the consensus in the comments seems to be that the rent was due for Squidward and his renditions blow the others out of the water. This makes sense, given that the genre was dominated by a level of self-loathing that befits the crotchety octopus.
