Arnold Schwarzenegger Accuses Jason Reitman of ‘Fucking Up’ the ‘Twins’ Sequel
In a profile for The Hollywood Reporter published yesterday, bodybuilding icon, action superstar and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger shared some wisdom ahead of the release of his self-help book Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life — said Schwarzenegger, “This country was not built by people feeling good. This country was built by people working their asses off. We have to work our ass off and stop worrying about feelings. Just swallow it. If you feel shitty, don’t think, just do things.” This next part is going to make Jason Reitman feel shitty — don’t think, Jason, just make Triplets.

When asked about the rumored sequel to his critically panned, commercially sensational 1988 buddy comedy Twins, co-starring the incomparable Danny DeVito, Schwarzenegger didn’t hold back in his Conan-esque rage. The Governator lambasted Reitman, the son of the late Twins director Ivan, for abandoning his father’s legacy project and letting Triplets die in development hell.
Don't Miss
“Jason Reitman fucked it up! Jason Reitman literally stopped the project when his father died!” Schwarzenegger raved. He’s gonna need Reitman’s clothes, boots and production company.
“His father wanted to do it really badly,” Schwarzenegger lamented of Reitman’s metaphorically puny moviemaking physique. “I wanted to do it really badly. Danny DeVito wanted to do it really badly. We had the financing.” The original film grossed a whopping $216 million on just an $18 million budget as it told the story of a pair of unlikely fraternal twins (Arnie and Danny D) separated at birth who reunite to reclaim what remains of their family. With DeVito and Schwarzenegger’s stars both shining bright over three decades later, the sequel seemed destined for box office success — until Reitman the Lesser laid it to rest. Schwarzenegger explained, “When his father passed away, Jason says, ‘I never liked the idea’ and put a hold on it.”
There is good news, however, as Schwarzenegger revealed, “I’m developing another movie with Danny; he’s so much fun to work with and so talented.” If the superstar tandem really wanted to rub it in Reitman’s face, they’d get Fox Searchlight Pictures to give them the rights to make a Junior sequel titled Juno 2.
