There Has Never Been a Bromance Like the Jack McBrayer-Alexander Skarsgård Bromance

With the fourth and final season of Succession underway, everyone is talking about Alexander Skarsgård’s strangest photo ops and variety of shirtless roles. But Twitter user @bonyamericangrl unearthed another relic of Skarsgård canon: his remarkably wholesome friendship with 30 Rock star Jack McBrayer. 

As it turns out, the friendship is far from new, dating back to 2012, when the two would mingle at the same black-tie events. In a bizarre twist of fate, they discovered they were neighbors in Los Angeles. The rest was history. 

They’ve been to NASCAR races together, coffee shop dates and Skarsgård even took McBrayer as his date to the 2018 SAG Awards during his Big Little Lies stint. And under our noses, they endured the choppy waters of Greenland with Funny or Die in the satirical travelogue “Jack and Alex Save the Arctic.” The series riffs on their very real friendship as they study the effects of climate change with Greenpeace and its impact on their personal and professional lives.

As confusing as the pairing is, it’s no Hollywood gimmick. Time and again, you can see their genuine bond. There’s so much love that they often joke about their time as neighbors when McBrayer had a telescope pointed toward Skarsgård’s house to watch his friend’s every move. A weaker person would run scared, but Skarsgård finds joy in it. Everyone should wish to have a friendship as beautiful as that.
