Watch the Best Parts of Amazon’s Most Streamed Comedy Special from Nate Bargatze — on YouTube
It’s official — Nate Bargatze is a record-breaker. The Tennessee-born deadpan dad’s Amazon Prime Video debut special Hello World, filmed at the Celebrity Theater in Phoenix, took the top spot once held by Jim Gaffigan for the most-viewed Amazon original comedy special with 2.9 million streams in its first 28 days on the platform.
Hello World is Bargatze’s most personal project to date as the dry and imaginative storyteller delved deeper into his family life than he’d done before, and always with a family-friendly tone that would appease his profoundly Christian 1980s parents. Amazon’s decision to lure Bargatze away from Netflix, a platform that hosts two of his previous specials, paid off for them in a big way as Hello World succeeded Gaffigan’s Quality Time by nearly half a million views.
Don't Miss
Thanks to Amazon’s promotional strategy for Hello World, you can celebrate the milestone by doing the next best thing to actually streaming it — by watching approximately 30 minutes of it in 30-second chunks posted by Prime Video and Bargatze’s channel Nateland. Prime Video and its competitors already changed the way we consume content with the fast rise of streaming, and as Amazon takes notes from their friends at TikTok, we’ll soon be able to watch every comedy special in half-minute increments. This is history right here.
