Dave Bautista’s Fake Stand-Up Special Announcement on April Fools’ Day Is Peak Anti-Humor
Now that the April Fools’ Day weekend is behind us, it’s time to honor the annual tradition following the holiday in which we reflect on the few pranks pulled by big-name celebrities that actually made us laugh.
This year, the award for Best Bit goes to beefcake Dave Bautista for a Netflix-themed anti-joke about yet another career change for the bouncer-turned-wrestler-turned-superhero. On Saturday, Bautista teased a comedy special titled I’ve Never Done This Before, in which he would try stand-up comedy for the very first time on Netflix for a $10 million paycheck. The result was a clip that captured the cringey nervousness and arrhythmic delivery of every awful open-mic set by a “first timer” – so not a huge change of pace from Netflix' usual programming.
Don't Miss
Bautista has officially flipped the celebrity April Fools’ Day prank game on its head — getting laughs by being deliberately unfunny is a welcome change of pace from the typical A-listers’ jokes that get crickets by accident.
