Suge Knight’s Son Reacts to Chris Rock Calling His Oscars Attacker ‘Suge Smith’
Even while he’s in prison, the rest of us would do well to keep any one of Suge Knight’s family members’ names out of our f—ing mouths. Unfortunately, I have no such sense of self-preservation.
The music mogul and convicted manslaughterer’s son, Suge J. Knight, commented on a joke made in Chris Rock’s recent special Selective Outrage in which Rock called his Oscars attacker Will Smith “Suge Smith” while riffing on The Slap. Speaking to TMZ, the younger Knight seemed to say that the joke was complimentary of his father, who is currently serving a 28-year prison sentence after killing a man with his car and injuring another following an altercation in 2015.
Don't Miss
And you know what? We’re not going to correct him.
“We all know Suge Knight as that guy who’s all about that action. It’s just funny to see that Suge has been in jail for a minute, but he still has this legendary status,” Knight said of Rock referencing his father while detailing a violent attack. Rock didn’t seem to be referencing the Death Row Records co-founder’s legendary career in the music industry as much as his legendarily violent history — but his son probably knows that.
When asked what his father’s reaction would have been if the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility had given him Netflix privileges this past Saturday night, Knight replied, ”He woulda said, ‘These dudes is not like me.’ But he woulda laughed though,” before saying of Selective Outrage, “I was really bored with the special until that happened, Imma be honest. I was like, ‘Okay Chris, cool, cool cool — Suge Smith! Oh shit! Like, oh damn, okay!’”
Rock better send the Knights a thank you note, or else he might get more than slapped in 20 years’ time.
