Ben Schwartz Delivers Some Classic Misery for Your Valentine’s Day Gloom
Given today’s holiday, plenty of rings are going to be offered across a candle-lit table at some swanky restaurant tonight — but not all of them will be accepted.
Fourteen years ago, Parks and Recreation and House of Lies star Ben Schwartz made a video for those unrequited individuals whose Valentine’s Day plans don’t end in matrimony, and he’s shared it again today to help the newly and sadly single wallow.
Don't Miss
Before Schwartz was the breakout star behind Jean-Ralphio Saperstein on Parks and Rec, he was a talented and busy sketch and improv comedian who was a regular at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York. Schwartz wrote, directed and performed in sketches with New York’s finest comedians including a Community-era Donald Glover, and his sketch “Valentine’s Break Up” co-starred Barry’s Sarah Burns and Eugene Cordero, better known as Pillboi on The Good Place. “Valentine’s Break Up” is one of many such sketches preserved on Schwartz’ YouTube page, and it’s a must-watch for anyone suffering from a failed proposal this holiday.
Looks like grandma wasn’t the only one whose heart was broken that Valentine’s Day.
