Fox Nation Forgives Football For Going Woke With Roseanne Barr’s ‘Cancel This!’ Promo
Back in 2016, Fox News and its affiliates declared that the NFL was dead in the water because some players took a knee during the national anthem -- conservatives burned jerseys and cut logos out of their Nike socks while they smugly proclaimed “Go woke, go broke” in eager anticipation of the day that the most popular sports league in America would declare bankruptcy due to liberal BS.
Flash forward to 2023: Fox Nation is using the NFL to promote a 70-year-old racist’s comedy special that shares a title with your loser uncle’s Facebook video about how M&Ms aren’t bangable anymore. Roseanne Barr’s Cancel This! – yes, that’s really the name – was advertised in a highly-publicized teaser during yesterday’s NFC Championship game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the San Francisco 49ers.
Don't Miss
Seven years ago, Fox said that the NFL was one Black Lives Matter tweet away from insolvency, but now it’s the best platform to promote a comedian who once tweeted that a mixed-race politician was the offspring of the “Muslim Brotherhood & Planet of the Apes.” That’s some serious whiplash – even by football’s standards.
“Has anybody else been fired recently?” Barr facetiously quips in the promo. The Golden Globe-winning sitcom star was booted from the Roseanne reboot in 2018 when she launched the infamous tweet about Valerie Jarrett, a former adviser to President Obama. Barr backtracked after the backlash, tweeting, “I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste.” The apology didn’t sway ABC, and the network moved forward with five seasons of The Conners absent Barr.
Barr had been out of the public eye since the incident, and Cancel This! will mark the conservative comedian’s first new project since she got canned from her own show. Fox Nation, Fox News’ companion streaming service, is all-too-eager to endorse a “canceled comedian’s” comeback tour – and they somehow don’t have any problem using the anti-American postmodern Marxist propaganda machine known as the NFL to promote her.
Maybe Fox will finally admit that their anger at Colin Kaepernick never had anything to do with the national anthem – if it did, they’d be calling for Roseanne to be arrested instead of shooting her special.
