'Jackass' Star Steve-O Celebrates 13 Years of Sobriety With Insane Glow-Up Post
In case you needed a little extra wholesome content to brighten your day, beloved Jackass star Steve-O seems to be healthy and thriving after celebrating a major life milestone earlier this week -- reaching 13 years of sobriety.
"So grateful to be celebrating thirteen years of sobriety today," Steve-O wrote on Instagram on Wednesday alongside the glow-up photo to end all glow-up photos, featuring a 2006 snap of him surrounded by what appear to be either several small gas canisters or pills, a whipped cream container, and a bottle of alcohol, juxtaposed next a recent image of him encircled by broccoli, green juice, and several other vegetables. "Thanks to everyone who helped me make it this far and, as always, thanks to @johnnyknoxville for giving me the loving nudge that started my journey!"
Even with his busy schedule, filled with items like being shot into the air strapped into a port-a-potty, and filming Jackass 4, which is set to hit theaters September 3, Steve-O, who first embraced a clean lifestyle on March 10, 2008, says he's still involved with the sobriety community "big time". "I don't really talk about that when I'm concentrating on film and stuff, but yeah, I'm super-active," he told Uproxx last July. "Dude, I made it into… depends if you want to count drugs and alcohol separately, then I qualified for different fellowships, and I feel like I'm barreling towards my fifth."
Don't Miss
A seemingly strong network in tow, Steve-O says he has also managed to find some alternate ways to navigate the physically taxing requirements of being a professional stuntman, famed for swallowing a goldfish and sticking fireworks up his butt. "When I got my ankle screwed together. There's little more invasive surgery than, what do you call it, compound fracture… open reduction," he said. "Open reduction, where they screw your whole ankle together, and I went through that and took zero painkillers other than Tylenol and Advil. “Of course, when I was in the hospital, they had me under, and they gave me, I’m sure, some kind of IV pain medication on the spot, but I’ve never even filled out a prescription. Tylenol and Advil for the win. And when it’s really unbearable, Tylenol with Advil."
So if, you had any doubts about Steve-O's badassery, look no further than his wild stunts -- and dedication to living a healthy lifestyle. I'll drink some green juice to that.
