Hasbro Scraps Action Figures of The Mandalorian's Cara Dune Following Gina Carano's Firing

It seems Lucasfilm dropping The Mandalorian's Gina Carano amid her controversial social media posts wasn't the last of her struggles. Toy company Hasbro is reportedly halting the production of Cara Dune action figures following her offensive Instagram story comparing the treatment of Jewish people in World War II by Nazis to Republicans in modern-day America. Once again, yikes. 

"We're thrilled to have the privilege of creating products featuring characters and stories from The Mandalorian for our fans," said Julie Duffy, the toy company's SVP of Global Communications, according to Deadline. "Hasbro has completed development of all season 1 and 2 product featuring Cara Dune, and there are no current plans to create more. We are actively working with our retail partners to address existing orders." 

Although only recently confirmed, rumors of this move had been swirling for days after a representative from BigBadToyStore, which sells action figures and other collectibles told The Hollywood Reporter the future of Cara Dune products was in question following her firing. "The Star Wars Black Cara Dune figure was released in 2020 and sold out not long after the inventory was received," a spokeswoman told the publication via email on Monday "Hasbro planned for another production run and we were accepting preorders from that production run. Due to recent events, Hasbro was no longer approved to produce any more of this figure."

As a result of this change, several new listings for action figures depicting the once-beloved ex-Rebel shock trooper have popped up on eBay and other third-party selling sites, going for hundreds of dollars each, The Hill reported. If only she had not spewed gross rhetoric -- that money could have ended up in her pocket. 

While her most recent social media blunder proved to be the final straw in her career at Lucasfilm, Carano had a history of sharing alarming statements on social media. Over the past few months, the actress has taken to her platform of more than 853,000 followers to tout baseless notions about the validity of the 2020 presidential election, share memes mocking the CDC-recommended protocol of wearing masks to slow the spread of Covid-19, and sharing posts with a hashtag typically associated with the conspiracy group, QAnon. Yikes. 

So folks, remember, if you're an international celebrity and a role model for millions around the world, use your platform wisely. Come on, it's really not that hard.
