Netflix, For God's Sake, Please Call Selena's Husband
In the early 1990s, the band Selena y Los Dinos, fronted by singer Selena Quintanilla, help spread Tejano music globally. The tragic story of her death, murdered by the president of her fan club, shook the music world. The 1997 Jennifer Lopez film Selena debuted while her life and death were still fairly fresh in everyone's minds, which helped to cement it as a classic biopic.
Now, the year of the 25th anniversary of Selena's death, Netflix is putting together a multi-part series about her, featuring The Walking Dead's Christian Serratos.
Selena would only be in her 40s if she were still alive today, which means that many of the people who worked with her and were close to her are still around to see any type of series like this (Hell, her murderer will be up for parole in 5 years). But right now, based on a lightly-cryptic Instagram post by Selena's husband, Chris Perez, it would seem he's been totally out of the loop on this one.
