Winter is coming, but rampant speculation is coming even sooner.

The world is waiting with bated breath for the final season of Game Of Thrones. Even George R.R. Martin apparently doesn't know what the hell's going to happen, presumably because he's far too busy playing Tetris next to a blank Microsoft Word document. To satiate the thirsty masses, HBO released a new trailer for Season 8. And, as is the internet's wont, it was immediately dissected like a dead frog full of sword fights and incest.

The trailer begins with a freaked-out Arya Stark running through the bowels of some castle. People were quick to point out that Arya's not exactly the "flee in terror" type, so whatever's chasing her must be pretty grim. The first theory: Arya is being chased by zombified versions of her dead family. Why? This could easily be the crypts of Winterfell, and if the White Walkers invade, what's to stop them from raising more dead bodies to join the fight?

This could mean that Ned Stark would return to bookend the show, albeit in a creepy headless skeleton form. Or possibly Catelyn Stark, which would also serve as a nod to the original books, in which Catelyn is resurrected as Lady Stoneheart -- a storyline cut from the series either for time or because it was very, very stupid.

Fans also speculated that Cersei's wine glass is poisoned, Jon Snow will realize that he's been diddling his aunt, and an exciting new character will command the Greyjoy fleet. Or Theon got a haircut. Or it's just an extra. Who knows? Another promotional tidbit adding to the furor: the recent cover of Entertainment Weekly, which eschewed the usual focus on attractive celebrities for a close-up of the wrinkled, scowling face of the Night King.

Seeing him up close and in print for the first time, it became apparent that the lord ruler of the corpsicles has stars for eyes.

Maybe this means that the White Walkers are metaphors for the hollow pursuit of celebrity, or maybe the Night King moonlights as the frontman for a glam rock tribute band. Or, according to one theory, this could mean he's actually a god of the Faith of the Seven -- the religion in Westeros whose symbol is a seven-pointed star! Or it's just a creepy thing to put in a dude's eyes. Who knows?
