33 Hilariously Mean Letterboxd Reviews of ‘Kraven the Hunter’
When Sony gave custody of Spider-Man to Disney, it seemed like a good idea. Spidey could integrate with the other Avengers, as he does in the comics, and Sony could explore storylines within the Spideyverse with underrepresented characters.
What happened next was… not that.
Eight years and six movies later, all Sony has to show for their efforts is a Venom with the most confusing accent you’ve ever heard, a movie that fans tried to have re-released as a troll move and a Dakota Johnson starring vehicle worse than Fifty Shades of Grey. Moreover, the most memorable moments from these films weren’t the movies themselves, but everyone making fun of them.
Sony’s latest Spideyverse entry, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Kraven the Hunter, is no different, debuting at 16 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, which puts it between Madam Web and Morbius. It, of course, got especially panned on Letterboxd, where one user described it as “the worst James Bond audition” ever and another added that it proves Martin Scorsese’s disdain for comic book movies is justified.
Honestly, these brave reviewers, who forced themselves to watch Kraven the Hunter all the way through and took the time to assemble such brilliantly brutal reviews afterward, are the real heroes here.
