20 Songs We Sang Wrong for Way Too Long
One of the many wonders of modern technology is the microindustry that’s grown over the last 20 years solely around making sure you can understand music. Not, like, the themes and theory of a classic symphony — literally just the words pop stars are saying. All you have to do is Google a song and you get a “lyrics” tab. If you don’t know what the song is, you can Shazam it. Even Spotify just showing you the title of the song is an underrated luxury. Unless the DJ mentioned it, people just walked around not knowing what songs were called. They were lazy idiots who couldn’t be bothered to check on their next trip to Tower Records, but they existed.
That means a whole lot of people who don’t even look like candidates for knee replacement surgery spent decades of their lives singing pop songs completely wrong. In their defense, the ‘90s was a mumbly time, and they might have known that what their ears were telling them didn’t make sense, but they had no way of determining otherwise. They presented themselves for mockery when user gourdjuice asked r/AskReddit, “What (are) your misheard song lyrics and how long until you noticed that you (were) wrong?”
