45 of the Funniest Mean Letterboxd Reviews of ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’

About halfway through Joker: Folie à Deux’s grueling 138-minute runtime, Joaquin Phoenix repeatedly sings “The joker is me,” in what might be the film’s most prophetic statement. With the Oscar-winner reprising his role as Arthur Fleck and Lady Gaga joining the cast to invoke the harlequin spirit of Lee Quinzel, everyone expected Todd Phillips’ sequel to be a slam dunk. And yet, it’s been anything but.

Despite a 12-minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival, the bleak musical courtroom drama was critically panned, sitting at 31 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, and receiving a D on CinemaScore, the lowest grade a comic book movie has ever been awarded by an audience — even worse than certified bombs Morbius and The Flash

Unsurprisingly, things aren’t going any better for the Joker sequel on Letterboxd, where the average rating sits at 2.5 out of more than 100,000 reviews. Arthur Fleck just wanted to make people laugh, but based on these reviews, it’s safe to say that people are laughing at him — and they’re showing no signs of stopping.

Review by Ana V PATRON Joker: Folie à Deux 2024 1/2 Watched Sep 27, 2024 This is like when that one mediocre kid somehow got 100% on a test but everyone knew it was just because he copied the actual smart kid but then the smart kid changed seats so he went on to get 0.5% on the next test because he couldn't rip anyone off anymore. All this to say, this was fucking trash. Like review 9,515 likes
