10 Times ‘The Muppet Show’ Hosts Were Relentlessly Hit on By the Puppets

The Muppet Show was never meant for kids. How are we so sure? Just read Jim Henson’s own words. Or consider the fact that a test pilot for The Muppet Show was named “Sex and Violence.”
Still not convinced? Just think about how relentlessly horny the Muppets are: Every time some real-life heartthrob — of any gender — appears on the show, at least one Muppet wants to jump their bones (despite having none themselves). This happens in not one or two, but dozens of episodes over the course of the series.

And so, here are 10 of the most hilarious times the Muppets relentlessly hit on a guest star…
Kermit and Juliet Prowse
The amorous Muppet action begins in the very first episode ever shot for the series, when dancer and actress Prowse hosts the show. In an interview segment, Prowse tells Kermit that he’s the “Robert Redford of frogs,” and Kermit responds by asking if she’s ever kissed Robert Redford. When Prowse says she hasn’t, Kermit adjusts his mandible and says, “How about kissing the next best thing?”
I should also mention that Kermit is naked in this scene.
Miss Piggy and Kris Kristofferson
In Season Three, Kristofferson hosts the show with his wife, Rita Coolidge, but the presence of his beloved spouse doesn’t stop Piggy from swooning over the country singer during a rendition of “Through the Night.” The horned-up hog calls him a “silver-tongued devil” and repeatedly throws herself at Kristofferson.
Animal and Rita Moreno
The sexual tension between Animal and Moreno in this segment of The Muppet Show is truly something to behold. Even when Moreno smashes Animal’s head between two symbols, you can tell he’s loving it.
Gonzo and Madeline Kahn
While Animal is probably the horniest Muppet, Gonzo is a close second. Not only is he really into dating chickens, but he also has a crush on Miss Piggy early on in the series. However, he gives that up when Kahn shows up; he proposes to her just minutes after they meet. Shockingly, she declines.
Sweetums and Kermit with Florence Henderson
In one episode, the lovable monster Sweetums tells The Brady Bunch’s Henderson that he could really fall for her — before he literally falls. Kermit also hits on Henderson so much during an interview segment that Miss Piggy bites her in a jealous rage.
Miss Piggy and Roger Moore
Usually, all the flirting on The Muppet Show is welcome, but when James Bond actor Moore hosts, that’s simply not the case. Early in the show, Miss Piggy corners Moore and fawns over him while singing "On a Slow Boat to China" as he squirms with discomfort and argues that they aren’t meant for each other. When Piggy insists, “We can make it work,” he helplessly counters, “But I don’t want to make it work!”
Kermit and Linda Ronstadt
When Ronstadt hosts, Kermit buys her flowers and calls her a “foxy lady,” causing Piggy to get so jealous she locks him in a trunk for most of the episode.
Link Hogthrob and Lesley Ann Warren
Swine Trek Captain Link Hogthrob uses the pickup line “Hi there, good-looking” on actor and singer Warren during her time hosting the show, and it works so well they quickly begin dancing together.
Kermit and Fozzie with Raquel Welch
Kermit introduces Welch as “one of the sexiest ladies alive” and describes her as “curvaceous,” “tantalizing” and “desirable.” Welch, however, seems much more interested in Fozzie, who she rubs up and down while singing “Confide in Me.” She also called Fozzie “sexy” and “sex-sational” before asking him up to her dressing room. Altogether, Welch proves that horniness on The Muppet Show isn’t just a one-way street.
