The Sexiest Television Comedies of All Time

Do they make you horny, baby?
The Sexiest Television Comedies of All Time

In the wake of The White Lotus and Dying for Sex, two television shows drenched in the pheromones of lust, The Hollywood Reporter decided to rank the 20 sexiest TV shows this week. Where, you might wonder, do comedies rank on the list? Not surprisingly, the list is dominated by streaming dramas where the latitude for nudity and general horniness is a little wider. A few comedy shows did make the list, however, as you’ll read below.

Before we get into the Hollywood Reporter’s rankings, though, consider a few other sitcoms that might have qualified for the list…

Dream On

The whole point of HBO’s Dream On was to take advantage of the pay cable network’s willingness to show naked people running around the bedroom. Imagine a sitcom in which someone’s dress falls off every week and you get the idea.

Bob’s Burgers

Not sure what it says about traditional sitcoms that Bob and Linda Burger are one of television’s sweetest, horniest couples but here we are.

The Addams Family

There’s something about a long black dress that drove Gomez Addams wild with desire. The show’s signature couple couldn’t be on screen for 30 seconds before full-blown sexy time exploded into view.

Sex and the City

I mean, it’s right there in the title.

Three’s Company

Even though Jack, Janet and Chrissy kept their hands off each other, everyone had sex on the brain, always searching for their next romantic conquest. The only cast member who didn’t want it was Mr. Roper, much to Mrs. Roper’s regret.

But if none of those sexy sitcoms made the Hollywood Reporter’s list, which comedies did? Let’s count ‘em down.

Golden Girls

“One of the most deliriously libidinous characters in small-screen history, Blanche (Rue McClanahan, genius) didn’t just embody the fact that female desire, and desirability, doesn’t fade at 40 (or 50),” argues the Hollywood Reporter. “She was also one of the great erotic fabulists, her reminiscences of past exploits and present yearnings vivid enough to get anyone hot and bothered.”

The rest of the Girls often got romantic as well, but Blanche put them on this list.

Moonlighting

Moonlighting was a ridiculous detective show that might break into Dr. Seuss patter in any given moment. Fans came for the laughs but stayed for the smolder — David and Maddie were one of the best “Will they or won’t they?” in television history. As Hollywood Reporter puts it, “Viewers needed these two to canoodle.”

Unfortunately for Moonlighting, viewers tuned out once they finally did the deed.

Insecure

Issa Rae racked up the Emmy nominations for Insecure, a show that “served serious eye candy and steamy hookups.” The show landed at number five on the Hollywood Reporter’s list, thanks to “an understated erotic current (that) ran through the entire series, whether it was Molly and Andrew stealing glances from across the table during their first date or Issa and Daniel succumbing to their desires during a recording session.”
