Mary Lynn Rajskub Says Gail the Snail Is Still ‘Growing Into Her Body’ Ahead of ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ Season 17
As It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia fans wait with alcohol-scented breath to see what R-rated hijinks the Paddy’s Pub crew gets into during Season 17, actress Mary Lynn Rajskub is ready for anything.
Rajskub got into the slurping, mashing spirit of her FX(X) character Gail the Snail on Monday, taking to Instagram with a video of her lip-syncing along to her lines from Season Five’s “The Gang Gives Frank an Intervention.”
“Huh, jealous?” she mouthed along to the clip, tossing her blonde hair into Gail’s signature half-up hairdo. “I’m a woman now, I’m not a virgin anymore.”

Completing the transformation into her mollusk-inspired alias by taking off her jacket to reveal a tank top similar to Gail’s in the 2009 episode, Rajskub offered yet another message for fans: She may be in her 50s, but the “The Garbage Pail Cousin” is still coming into her own.
“Gail the Snail Is Still Growing Into Her Body,” she captioned the post.
It remains unclear what inspired the 24 star to embody her It’s Always Sunny character — who most recently appeared in Season 16’s “The Gang Goes Bowling” — but fans had some ideas, speculating if, and how, Gail might appear in an upcoming episode of the long-running show.
“How have Gail and Cricket not dated yet,” asked Instagram user its_always_sonni.
Meanwhile, Clifftron1986 took the opportunity to pitch a non-Abbott Elementary crossover, envisioning a universe in which Rajskub’s characters mashed (sorry) together into one TV universe. “If Gail the Snail was in 24, she would be able to solve the season’s crisis in a single episode by either grossing them out with her slurps or mashing the bad guy’s dong until it’s turned to dust,” they speculated.
That’s a cool concept that we think we’ll be salting away for later.
