Unlike movies, books, songs, etc., TV shows are unique among modern art forms in that they’re completely open-ended. Sure, a movie or a book (or a song, if you’re willing to dig hard enough through the deep cuts) can have sequels or be part of a series, but with a TV show, you can just keep submitting new chapters in perpetuity. You used to be able to do that with written stories, but Dickens is dead, folks.
That also means you can submit one chapter, be roundly lambasted and retreat silently into obscurity but for the few unfortunate viewers who will forever have your stupid show burned into their memories.
