24 Characters Who Can Be Identified By a Single Line

‘Alright, alright, alright’

For a medium that was once called “talkies,” dialogue is largely optional for a good movie. Some of the best characters aren’t exactly known for their quips. For example, can you recall a single line spoken by John Wick? How about Mission: Impossible’s Ethan Hunt? On the other hand, some writers are so good at dialogue that character tends to fall by the wayside. That’s why everyone can quote Oscar Wilde, but they can’t for the life of them tell you which of his characters they’re quoting.

Some characters, though, are instantly recognizable by a single line of dialogue. A Redditor named Practer offered John McClane (“Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker!”), the Joker (“Why so serious?”), Regina George (“Stop trying to make fetch happen”) and Katniss Everdeen (“I volunteer as tribute”) as examples.

They then asked r/AskReddit, “Which movie character or real person can be identified by a single line said by them?” and their fellow Redditors proved to be users of few words in all the best ways.
