20 Photos That Look Normal Until You Know the Stories Behind Them
Everybody’s a rationalist until it comes to the images taken of a harrowing or awesome moment of history. It feels like the photo itself should bear the weight of the event, even if it’s just some guy’s vacation slides or an eerily timed selfie. Such photos do often feel haunted, with an invisible fog hanging over them and an almost imperceptible question in people’s eyes. Basically, the vibes are off.
Sometimes, though, they’re just normal photos that you wouldn’t think twice about if you didn’t know their connection to an amazing event. If you were the one developing the photos, you’d see nothing to hint that they were taken, for example, of a future serial killer or in moments just before the Twin Towers fell (also, you’d be in the 2000s, so you’d be living your own historical moment as well).
