‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Trundle Kelly Spells His Name Wrong on the ‘Abbott Elementary’ Sign-in Sheet

A new crossover promo shows the Paddy’s Pub gang getting their Abbott visitor passes

“Mr. Johnson is asshole. Why Charlee hate?”

We’re officially less than three weeks away from the Abbott Elementary mid-season premiere when Dennis, Mac, Dee, Frank and Trundle from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia will grace the halls of Willard R. Abbott Elementary School with their presence, but the rush to get the Paddy’s Pub Gang’s illiterate wildcard in the vicinity of qualified educators can’t happen soon enough.

It’s been more than two months since Rob McElhenney spilled the beans on the cross-town crossover inspired by the viral Glaswegian Willy Wonka Experience, and, in that time, the Abbott Elementary crew has given us some insight into what they have in store for their special guests, telling fans that they can expect the storyline for the first half of the two-part crossover to focus mainly on Always Sunny’s illiterate janitor.

In a recent promo for the very special January 8th Abbott Elementary episode, the ABC team showed the Always Sunny gang checking in on the school's sign-in sheet and receiving their passes, and, in the first shot of the video, we can see that a certain someone wrote down his name as “CHARLEE," with his visit purpose listed as “KNEED TOO NO BASSIS.”

Pretty good! That's — that's close.

Clearly, Charlee has already made huge strides in his education on the English language, as hes using actual letters in almost the right combination instead of scrawling pictures and symbols like he usually does. And, to be clear, Charlies check-in is far from the most concerning line on that sign-in sheet when it comes to the safety of Abbott's kids — even with Franks listed reason as “Who wants to know,” Dee writing “None of your biz” and Mac with his ominous “You'll see,” Dennis telling the staff of Willard R. Abbott “Don't worry about it” in regards to his visit is downright grounds for an appearance from a SWAT team.

Hopefully, Trundles literacy will continue to improve over the course of the Abbott Elementary episode, and, later, in the Always Sunny side of the crossover. If Ms. Barbara Howard cant teach that hilarious Charlie Murphy how to spell his own name, no one can.
