‘Simpsons’ Fans Sound Off on Which Celebrity Made the Best Springfieldian

Anthony Bourdain. “Weird Al” Yankovic. Britney Spears. 

Many stars have made the months-long — and very geographically confusing — trek to The Simpsons’ hometown of Springfield, but a rare few have managed to make their mark on the city’s Wall of Fame. 

Much like Reese Witherspoon, the Baha Men and Daniel Radcliffe did to the animated locale, Redditor kabukistar dropped by The Simpsons subreddit with a question for the show’s most dedicated fans: “Who was the best celebrity guest to play themselves?”

Featuring a screengrab from Robert Goulet during his Bart Simpson-approved rendition of “Jingle Bells, Batman Smells,” the Canadian singer was far from the only celebrity to earn an honorable mention in the viral post’s comment section. 

“Adam West,” suggested thatjuandude24 before citing the actor’s iconic question for Bart and Lisa: “Why doesn’t Batman dance anymore?

“Ernest Borgnine is probably my favorite,” added LordShtark, dubbing the late Marty actor as “a good celebrity dad for Warren.”

But for some stars — including Mark Hamill, who appeared on the show back in 1998 — their love of The Simpsons truly made their stint on the series truly one to remember. 

“Hamill only agreed to do Simpsons if he was allowed to play a second character that wasn’t just himself,” noted nowhereman136 of Hamill’s beloved performance. “So Hamill also plays the bodyguard school instructor in that episode.”

The same could be said of The Ramones, who seriously milked their fangirl moment in the years after their 1993 stint alongside Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie.  “The Ramones were high-level Simpsons nerds, and once they had the contact info for the Simpsons writers, they would call them and ask them to settle trivia questions and give their opinion on jokes and characters,” recalled GeorgeDogood.

We can’t say we blame them. Once you play Mr. Burns’ birthday party, Radio City Music Hall just doesn’t hit the same.
