20 of the Dumbest Lines in Movie History

‘The neutrinos have mutated!’

You know what they say: Every well-written movie is the same, but every bad movie is bad in its own way. Sometimes, it’s bad all the way through. Maybe it’s just a plot problem. A lot of that is easy for a good director to cover up, but when screenwriters screw up what most people think of as screenwriting — i.e., the dialogue — there’s no hiding. Even one bad line can sour audiences on an otherwise perfectly good movie.

For Redditor Sarke1, “I think mine’s the classic ‘and she stepped on the ball…’ from Trading Places,” referring to the scene where a group of yuppies are regaling each other with fascinating stories of recreational tennis.

They then asked r/AskReddit, “What are your favorite cringe-worthy lines from movies that just makes you feel bad for the actors for having to say them?” and their fellow Redditors spouted all kinds of lousy lines in return.
